Despite taking reasonable precautions, it is impossible to protect all information from a breach, also referred to as a data breach or security breach. We will notify you via either mail, email, or other method provided by law in the instance of the unauthorized release of unencrypted or unredacted records or data containing personal information with corresponding names, such as a person’s first initial and last name without unreasonable delay, consistent with the legitimate needs of law enforcement. The notice will include a general description of the security breach incident, the type of personal information breached, a general description of efforts to avoid further unauthorized access to personal information, a telephone number for more information, if applicable, and a link to North Carolina’s Department of Justice’s advice for those affected.
